Monday Moms in Green Bay

Meet Chryssy Joski!

Q: What town/city do you live in?
A:  I live on the west side of Green Bay.

Q: How many kids do you have?
A:  Two–one daughter & one son.

Q: What are their ages?
A:  My daughter is 4 and my son just turned 1.

Q: Do you work outside the home? If so, where & what do you do?
A:  Right now, I am primarily a stay-at-home-mom, but I do some freelance web design and writing. I am also the owner of WellRoundedMom.com, a blog about parenting in today’s world. I post about everything from recipes to family technology tips to humorous essays about being a parent.

Q: What is your favorite at-home activity to do with your kids?
A.  My kids love to garden. (Well, my daughter does. My son primarily enjoys trying to eat grass and dirt.) My daughter has plants that are hers, including a rose bush she picked out, so she likes to take care of them. It teaches her responsibility and a love for nature. It teaches my son that dandelions taste yucky.

Q: Where is your favorite place around Green Bay to take your kids?
A:  I like to take my kids to the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market. We pick out fresh fruit and veggies for meals that week, and we usually get a little treat along the way. (I’m looking at you, honey stick man.)

Q: If you had one parenting tip to share that has worked for you/helped you, what would it be?
A:  Potty training doesn’t happen overnight, and some kids take longer than others. When the kid has an accident, don’t make them feel bad about it, because then they’ll stop telling you when it happens, which is even worse.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do for yourself when you have time?
A:  I’ll admit it; I like TV. I don’t have time to watch a lot of shows, but during the summer, I can’t miss So You Think You Can Dance, and during the rest of the year, I’m a Grey’s Anatomy junkie. I’ve been watching it since before I even met my husband, and I just can’t give it up!

Q: Are you a night owl or an early bird (despite what you have to be as a mom)?
A:  I like to be up early in the morning; I just don’t like to get up in the morning. Once I’m up, I’m up and about, so I guess early bird.

Q: What is your most embarrassing moment?
A:  Well, in recent memory, I flashed my priest. It was not intentional. My daughter was being a bit sassy at church, and while I was holding her brother, she lifted up my shirt as high as she could. I just about died. But I blogged about it, took a few deep breaths, and got over it. Kids will embarrass us. I can’t wait until my daughter has her first boyfriend. Karma, baby.

Thanks for sharing with us, Chryssy! Check back on another Monday to meet a different area mom.
