Rodgers & Hammerstein’s final collaboration and one of the world’s most beloved musical, this inspirational story is based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp . It’s Austria, 1938, and a widower, Captain Von Trapp, hires an exuberant young governess to teach and look after his seven children. Maria is a breath of fresh air and brings music and joy back the broken family. As the Nazis rise to power, Captain von Trapp disagrees with many of their policies and ideologies. But as war seems eminent, the von Trapp family must decide if they will accept Nazi rule or flee the country they love.
