Free Music Clubs at Jim’s Music

Are you looking for in-person things to do to occupy your kids (or yourself) and challenge your mind or learn a new skill during this crazy time when many area schools are virtual? I know I am! With many events and classes cancelled or going virtual due to Covid, there just aren’t as many options. Learning to play a new instrument or brushing up on your skills/practicing your instrument is a great way to fill your time and stretch yourself or your child. And at Jim’s Music on Military Ave, that’s exactly what you can do, in person–for FREE! Try the free Music Clubs at Jim’s Music.

When?
Every Thursday night from 6-7PM at Jim’s Music, you can drop-in and check out one of their weekly music clubs for FREE! No pre-registration is required. Here’s the schedule with October dates listed:

  • 1st Thursday of the month (10/1): Piano Club
  • 2nd Thursday of the month (10/8): Guitar Club
  • 3rd Thursday of the month (10/15): Ukulele Club
  • 4th Thursday of the month (10/22): Bucket Club
  • 5th Thursday (when applicable) of the month (10/29): Music Theory Club

If you can’t make it to any of the October dates, this schedule applies each month, so you can check them out in November, December or any month next year.

Where?
Jim’s Music is located at 1219 Military Avenue in Green Bay. Contact them directly at 920-455-0000, thursdayclub@jimsmusic.biz or visit jimsmusiconline.com for more information.

What?
Music Clubs at Jim’s are for all ages–young or old–and any experience level, including no experience! Even if you’ve never touched an instrument before, the staff at Jim’s will walk you through the basics and get you playing in no time. (You don’t even need to bring your own instrument as Jim’s provides them.) This is a perfect chance to meet people with similar interests and/or learn a new skill.

Each instructor has their own style, but for the most part the club will begin with introductions along with a quick check on skill level so that the instructor can tailor the experience. The rest of the time will be spent working on different techniques and more than likely learning to play a song together. The instructor will be there every step of the way to answer any questions you may have and at the end of the night the instructor will give you something to practice in your spare time until next month.

What else should I know before I go?
-Instruments are provided by Jim’s, so you don’t have to bring anything!
-You are not obligated to participate, so if you prefer to just watch and learn, that’s fine too.
-Guitar Club is split into 2 different segments: the first half hour for beginners, the second half hour for intermediate/advanced.
-As for Covid safety precautions, masks are required, hand sanitizer is provided and seats will be spaced apart.
-Updates like cancellations or etc will be posted on the Jim’s Music Facebook Page.
