Music lessons are a great idea for kids. Among other benefits, according to a Northwestern University study, studying music at a young age can help with everything from standardized test scores to improving memory later in life. The best ages for kids to begin learning an instrument are probably 5 (piano and violin) to 8 (all others), but it’s never too late to start! Many parents know the benefits of music and want their kids to play an instrument…but instruments and lessons can get expensive fast, so they avoid getting them started. Luckily, Jim’s Music in Green Bay is making music fun and affordable for families!

“First, it’s important, I think, to ask the child what instrument he or she would like to learn, because they are more likely to succeed if they’re interested in the instrument that is selected” says Jeff Krebs of Jim’s Music and Teaching.

There are many instruments to choose from at Jim’s music..and you don’t have to BUY them! Guitars, ukuleles, band, orchestra, drums and pianos are all available. You can purchase new or used or choose a low cost rental option that is a rent-to-own program. If you go with the rental option, all the money spent on the rental goes toward the purchase of the instrument if you decide to purchase it down the road. Renting also gives you the ability to switch instruments at any time if your child changes their mind down the road. You can still apply the money spent on the original rental towards the next instrument they select.

If your child isn’t in band (and sometimes even if they are), the next step is lessons. Once again, Jim’s Music has a great, affordable solution for families. Lessons are held at Jim’s Music located at 1219 S Military Ave in Green Bay and are 1/2 hour once a week. They have instructors for all instruments and you can get started for as low as $65 per month. All instructors have had background checks performed and they have 7 lesson rooms available with flexible scheduling. Lessons are typically during store hours (M-F 10-7 & Sat 10-4).

The bottom line is playing an instrument doesn’t have to break the bank. You can rent-to-own or buy used and get started on affordable lessons at Jim’s Music at any time. So don’t wait: call 920.496.3710 or stop in at Jim’s Music today and get your child started on those instrument lessons you’ve been thinking about!
