Meet Hollie Surber!
Q: What town/city do you live in?
A: We live in Sobieski, about 15 miles north of Green Bay.
Q: How many kids do you have?
A: We have three children.
Q: What are their ages?
A: Sydney 9, Sebastian 6 and Sullivan 4 months.
Q: Do you work outside the home? If so, where & what do you do?
A: We own a painting company (Surber Custom Painting, LTD) and I manage the books from home while my hubby does the actual painting.
Q: What is your favorite at-home activity to do with your kids?
A. Our favorite thing to do at home is swimming. We stay home almost every day in the summer and invite different friends over to swim.
Q: Where is your favorite place around Green Bay to take your kids?
A: I asked my kids what their favorite place was around town and they said, Bay Beach, the Wednesday night farmer’s market, and just going to the park. I guess those are all seasonal, so for winter we love to go to a movie.
Q: If you had one parenting tip to share that has worked for you/helped you, what would it be?
A: One parenting tip we have stuck with is giving our children experiences rather than a lot of things. They learn so much through family vacations, travel, theatre and going places. We even do this for gifts, too. For example, at Christmas, we give passes to the Children’s museum, kidz town, and plays, in addition to a few gifts. We prefer to spend money on making memories, than on things.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do for yourself when you have time?
A: When I have time by myself, I love to meet a friend for dinner or go shopping alone.
Q: Are you a night owl or an early bird (despite what you have to be as a mom)?
A: I am definitely a night owl. I always stay up after everyone is in bed and finish things up and watch a good show before bed.
Q: Share a funny quote from you child.
A: Quote from 9 year old Sydney after going to the DMV with me to renew my license. “Mom, I thought you said you were so good in school and always got A’s? It says here you have an ‘F’ in sex!” (she doesn’t know what that means yet either, by the way.) 😉
