Meet today’s Monday Mom: Carrie Vajko.
Q: What town/city do you live in?
A: Kaukauna.
Q: How many kids do you have?
A: Two–a son and a daughter.
Q: What are their ages?
A: Finn is almost 3 and Penny turned 1 in March.
Q: Do you work outside the home? If so, where/what do you do?
A: Yes. I am a Virtual Assistant for female Christian business owners and I simplify women’s makeup and skincare routines within my Mary Kay business. (You can check it out here: marykay.com/carrievajko.) I, like most moms in my season, work during nap time and early mornings.
Q: What is your favorite at-home activity to do with your kids?
A: We love playing in our sandbox when it’s nice out or playing with trucks or the “Ball Game” (a basketball hoop at the bottom of the stairs and try to make baskets from the top of the stairs).
Q: Where is your favorite place around Green Bay to take your kids?
A: Finn loves Sand Acres Park and Titletown Park.
Q: What is one parenting tip you would like to share with others?
A: My husband and I have taken a lot of time to discover our own personal strengths, pitfalls and working through past traumas so we can know what to avoid when it comes to raising our kids and how we can lean on each others’ strengths, too. I believe one of the biggest gifts we can give our kids is being emotionally mature parents. Which means you need to make the investment (both time and money) to understand how you’re wired and where you can grow. You can’t teach what you don’t know! Also, I love the “Love and Logic” parenting course.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do when you have time for yourself?
A: I love being with people, so anytime I can get out of the house for a meal with friends or a weekend vacation, I do.
Q: Are you a night owl or an early bird (despite what you have to be as a mom)?
A: I’ve always been an early bird.
