Q: What town/city do you live in?
A: De Pere
Q: How many kids do you have?
A: Two girls
Q: What are their ages?
A: Harper is 6 and Monroe is 3
Q: Do you work outside the home? If so, where & what do you do?
A: I currently work for CBRE / Associated Bank as an Assistant Facilities Manager, but I am in a Residency in Teacher Education program to obtain a Special Education Licensure.
Q: What is your favorite at-home activity to do with your kids?
A: Our favorite at-home activity is to paint or create anything, really. I like to give them a chance to really express themselves and have a blast creating.
Q: Where is your favorite place around Green Bay to take your kids?
A: Our favorite place around Green Bay to take the kids is any of the many area parks. We like to discover new parks and hit them up. We also love Sand Acres Park which is near our home.
Q: If you had one parenting tip to share that has worked for you/helped you, what would it be?
A: My parenting tip is also one I need to remind myself of often. All children misbehave, throw tantrums, are sassy and can challenge us greatly. So never feel as if you are alone or doing something wrong. ALL parents feel overwhelmed once in a while, but we are all in this together!
Q: What is your favorite thing to do for yourself when you have time?
A: There are a few hobbies of which I can’t get enough. Anything physical tops my list. In particular, I follow a strength and performance program which includes everything from power lifting to sprinting. Also, my daughter Monroe was born without her left hand, from just past her elbow and down. We have become very involved in the limb-different community, and run a Facebook page titled “A Little Bit of Grace”, which is her middle name. Monroe and I have presented to several different area classrooms and spoken about birth differences, while promoting uniqueness. And although it began as one of the darkest times for me personally, it is such a light now!
Q: Are you a night owl or an early bird (despite what you have to be as a mom)?
A: I don’t really consider myself a night owl or an early bird – I Love Sleep!! However, the older I get, the more I enjoy the mornings. 🙂
Q: Share a funny quote from one of your kids.
A: Kid quotes are the best. We were driving in the car one day and Harper had to pee. I asked her if she could hold it, and she said no–because she had too much in her hands already. 🙂 It also makes me smile when they say “scun-screen” and “aminal”. I can’t even correct them.
Thanks for sharing with us, Kristen. Check back next week to meet another area mom!
