Hello October! (2015)

I love lists. So here’s another one for let’s go mommy readers: a list of all special “October Outings” in one place. This is a comprehensive list at the time of publication, but more events may arise throughout the month, so continue checking the let’s go mommy website for listings. All of these events can be found on the let’s go mommy website on the dates that they occur, but if you are looking for a snapshot overview of special events in October to plan your month accordingly, here it is!

October 3rd

*Pumpkin Blowout at all Festival Foods locations: 8-5 (kids’ activities 9-3); FREE + cost of pumpkins, etc.

*Lambeau Field Spooktacular at Lambeau Field Atrium: 10-4; FREE

Live entertainment including music, acrobats & variety acts along with face painting and Halloween craft stations. Free FBI child ID kits will be distributed and donations for coats for kids will be accepted as well.

*HOWLoween Walkathon & Fall Family Festival at Meadowbrook Park (670 Hillcrest Heights, Howard): 10-3; FREE

A walkathon event to earn money for homeless pets. Plus other pet & family-friendly fun including costume contests, trick-or-treating for kids and pets, free face painting, tatoos, crafters, vendors, bucket raffle, concessions and more!

*Kids Autumn Adventure at the Wildlife Sanctuary (1660 East Shore Drive, Green Bay): 10-2; FREE

Join the Thursday Morning Breakfast Optimist Club for this annual event including free lunch! There will be lots of activities for kids and their parents. All ages are welcome and all activities are free!

*Peter Pan at Webb Theatre, St Norbert College (315 Third St, De Pere): 1:00 & 4:00; $9 per person

Evergreen Children’s Theatre presents the original, non-musical version of the classic tale of 2 boys & a girl who follow Peter Pan and the invisible fairy, Tinkerbell, into Neverland, where children never grow old and Captain Hook and his pirates are outwitted.

October 4th

*Peter Pan at Webb Theatre, St Norbert College (315 Third St, De Pere): 1:00 & 4:00; $9 per person

October 7th

*Happy Joe’s Pumpkin Carving Event at The NEW Zoo (4378 Reforestation Rd in Pines Shelter, Suamico): 4-8; FREE–bring your own pumpkin and carving tools

Bring your own pumpkins and pumpkin carving tools and prepare to create a masterpiece! Event will take place at the Pines Shelter off the north end of the NEW Zoo’s main parking lot. Happy Joe’s will provide FREE pizza and the zoo will provide soda to all participants. All pumpkins decorated during the event will be used to decorate the zoo for the Zoo Boo! Pre-registration requested but not required. Call 920-662-2405.

October 9th

*Zoo Boo at the NEW Zoo: 3-8; $10 per person at gate, kids 1 & under free

Kids 12 & under can trick-or-treat.Wear costumes and bring treat bags! Zoo will be filled with festive Halloween decorations, 2 giant inflatables, a maze, live swamp monsters and a haunted horse-drawn wagon ride through the “Freaky Forest” 10/9, 10, 16 & 17.

October 10th

*De Pere Fire Station Open House (400 Lewis St, De Pere): 10-1; FREE

*Saturday Morning Movie Magic at De Pere Cinema with Jake & The Neverland Pirates (417 George St, De Pere): $10 per person (cash only)

Come and meet Pirate Jake, Izzie, Cubbie & Tinkerbell from Pixie Dust Performances! After our meet & greet there will be a showing of Jake & The Neverland Pirates: Neverland Rescue, on the big screen compliments of Pixie Dust Performances. Ticket includes meet & greet, 1 popcorn and 1 soda. Movie viewing is complimentary & optional and will begin at 10 AM. Reservations are not required. CASH only at the door. Space is limited.

*The Great Pumpkin Train at The National Railroad Museum (2285 S Broadway, Green Bay): 9-5:30; $12 per person, 2 & under free

Event includes train ride to pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin (free w/ admission), kids’ activities and musuem admission. Train runs every 45 minutes.

*Zoo Boo at the NEW Zoo: 3-8; $10 per person at gate, kids 1 & under free

October 16th

*Zoo Boo at the NEW Zoo: 3-8; $10 per person at gate, kids 1 & under free

October 17th

*Extreme Deep Adventures at The Neville Museum: 11-3; $5 16+, $3 6-15, 5 & under FREE

Explore the museum’s limited-time exhibit: “Extreme Deep: Mission to the Abyss” which takes you to deep sea frontiers with robotic explorers, bizarre fish, sunken ships, lush undersea gardens & more. Special activities include an interactive shipwreck mapping activity, presentations on “Wisconsin’s Great Lakes Shipwrecks”, a look at scuba diving gear, “Yo-Ho-Ho ‘n a Barrel of Fun” storytimes, photo opps with Pirate Pete and other hands-on fun including science activities, crafts, demos and a scavenger hunt. NOTE: Summer Reading Program participants–show your “Extreme Deep Adventures” Pass/Flyer and you and 1 adult get in free to this event & all museum exhibits; other guests must pay admission.

*A Brothers Grimm Halloween at Heritage Hill State Historical Park: 4-8; $7 per person, 3 & under FREE

Trick-or-treat at Heritage Hill and visit each area of the park to hear stories from the Brothers Grimm. Games and candy abound throughout the park. Children and adults alike should wear costumes. Participate in a scavenger hunt and experience the enchanted forest! Play a game of “snap apple”or make s’mores over the campfire!

October 19th

*Allouez Village Band Concert at the Meyer Theatre: 7:00; FREE

Doors open at 6, concert begin at 7. “Frank-N-Stein” concert is a traditional combination of Halloween and Octoberfest themes.

October 23rd

*Sweet Street at Shopko Hall (1901 S Oneida St, Green Bay): 11-8; $6 per person

Enjoy safe and controlled trick-or-treating and activities for children. Kids under 2 are free but do not receive candy unless a ticket is purchased. 150,000 pieces of peanut-free candy handed out! Live music and dance performances, Zombie survival zone, young scientists corner, petting zoo from 2-7, inflatable games, pumpkin bowling & box maze.

October 24th

*Storytime with Storybook Belle at Fraluz Frozen Treats (1031 Main St, De Pere): 9:30-11; $5 per child cash only

Come to Fraluz and join Storybook Belle and her special guest Cinderella! Included with $5 fee is craft, story, music, custom yogurt creation and meet and greet. Reservations not required. CASH ONLY at the door for kids ages 2-10. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

*Bubble, Bubble, Toil & Trouble at Bay Beach Pavilion (1313 Bay Beach Rd, Green Bay): 2-5; $3 per person

Huge Cardboard Maze, fun games, pumpkin bowling, witch ring toss, train rides, music, face painting, costume contest.

*Halloween Event at Wildlife Sanctuary (1660 East Shore Dr, Green Bay): 6-8:20; $2.50 per child, $3.75 per adult

This is a fun family event! Kids can come in costume. Event includes group pumpkin-lit walk through a darkened Nature Center where you will encounter various animals portrayed by area youth actors who will educate you about themselves and their wild ways in a fun and light-hearted way. Tours are at 6:00, 6:20, 6:40, 7:00, 7:20, 7:40, 8:00 & 8:20.  Must call to reserve a time slot: 920-391-3671.

*Once Upon a Halloween! at Children’s Museum (301 N Washington) : 5-8; $10 per person (non-members)

Enjoy the museum’s 4th annual Halloween party for the entire family! Take part in the family costume contest, ghostly games and activities, witchy workshops and a howling good meal.

October 27th

*Full Moon Fun Halloween Party at Southwest Library (974 Ninth St, Green Bay): 6:30-7:30; FREE

The full moon is a great excuse to host a Halloween Party. Get more use out of those costumes and bowl us away with your pumpkin bowling skills, say “cheese” with our photo-op background, eat monstrously delicious snacks and more!

October 28th

*Halloween Party at Kress Library (333 N Broadway, De Pere): 6:30-7:30; FREE

Wear your costume and get ready for some not too spooky fun at this family-friendly Halloween Party!

October 30th

*Halloween Treasure Hunt at Weyers-Hilliard Library (2680 Riverview Drive, Green Bay): 1-2; FREE

Join us for a Halloween treasure hunt!

HALLOWEEN (October 31st)

*Halloween Spooktakular at De Pere Cinema: Nightmare Before Christmas and meet & greet with Ragdoll Sallie (417 George St, De Pere): 9:30-11:30; $10 per person cash only

Come and meet Halloween Rag Doll Sallie from Pixie Dust Performances! After the meet and greet there will be a showing of The Nightmare Before Christmas on the big screen compliments of Pixie Dust Performances. Ticket includes meet and greet, 1 popcorn and 1 soda. Movie viewing is complimentary & optional and will begin at 10 AM. Reservations are not required. CASH only at the door. Space is limited.

*Trunk or Treat at Pilgrim Lutheran Church (1731 St Agnes Dr): 1-2:30 FREE

Come to the church parking lot and enjoy trick-or-treating from the trunks and tailgates of decorated vehicles. A FREE, safe, family environment! Cookie decorating, a craft project, and story telling will also be offered inside the church. Wear your costumes and bring a container for candy. In case of rain the event will be held inside.

*Halloween Hot Spot at Southwest Library (974 Ninth St, Green Bay): 10:30-5; FREE

Show off your costume, pop in for a treat and get a hand stamp!

  1. It looks like you were looking at the October events list from last year–2015. Sorry about that!! I will try to make sure I note the “year” things are for when applicable in future blog posts. There was an October events list for 2016, but I guess it’s too late now. 🙁 There will be a Holiday list for 2016 coming soon.
