Meet Teresa Johnson!
Q: What town/city do you live in?
A: Oneida
Q: How many kids do you have?
A: Four kids!
Q: What are their ages?
A: Three girls ages 19 months, 2 & 7 and a boy who is 5.
Q: Do you work outside the home? If so, where & what do you do?
A: Yes! I own Season of Motherhood Services (www.seasonofmotherhoodservices.com). So I am often at births, busy encapsulating placentas, renting birth pools, or working with mothers postpartum.
Q: What is your favorite at-home activity to do with your kids?
A: We homeschool, so we are always making crafts or reading or playing outside. We have barn animals, too, so we tend to spend a lot of time outdoors. I think everyone’s favorite thing to do at home is playing outside on the swingset–even my husband and I play on it!
Q: Where is your favorite place around Green Bay to take your kids?
A: Our two favorite summertime spots are Bay Beach and the Drive-in Movies. The kids also love the Children’s Museum.
Q: What has been your biggest challenge as a parent and if you had one parenting tip to share that has worked for you/helped you, what would it be?
A: Our biggest parenting challenge….it seems to be in everything! No one mentioned you’d have to make EVERY decision for these little lives from what they eat to what they wear to where they spend their time or when they go to bed and what stories they will hear. As for a parenting tip, one thing that has worked for us, with the huge responsibility each child brings, is to be honest with them. It seems simple, but it works. When I’m in the wrong, I apologize. When I get upset, I tell them why (without all the messy adult details of course). If I tell them to do or not do something, I explain why instead of just saying “because I said so”.
Q: What is something not many people know about you?
A: I had a few pet monkeys once upon a time in another country.
Q: Are you a night owl or an early bird (despite what you have to be as a mom)?
A: I would love to be an early bird, really I would. But I am such a night owl. I stay up for hours on end reading novels or scrolling Facebook or binge watching shows only to be reminded by 6AM what a horrible idea that was!!
Q: Share a funny quote from one of your kids.
A: My son jumps off a chair towards me and hits my legs with a full body slam while grabbing onto them and says, “I’m trying to give you a flying hug but I keep hitting your legs.”
Thanks for sharing with us, Teresa. Check back next week to meet another area mom!
