HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED…
When you should start your child in piano lessons?
Are group or private lessons better?
Is ear-training or note-reading more important?
When is vocal training appropriate?
What are the benefits of a chord approach?
Should young children learn to read notes before they read letters?
The list of questions can go on and on…but I have the answers! Welcome to Let’s Play Music, a music curriculum for children entering the program between the ages of 4-6 where we are making musicians! Through the magic of MUSIC and PLAY, your child will develop into a well-rounded and complete musician as we sing, dance, tell musical stories, and use full body movement in class together.
Let’s Play Music is an exciting, groundbreaking music curriculum that teaches advanced musical skills to young children using age-appropriate methods. Music educators have long taught that the young child learns best through play, experience and discovery. Let’s Play Music uses play as the medium through which difficult musical concepts and skills are learned.
The Let’s Play Music curriculum is organized into 3 sequential years – each heavily play-based because experience precedes learning. Children may enter the first year of the program between the ages of 4-6:
~The FIRST YEAR we use engaging songs, games and tone bells to teach staff awareness and rhythm reading skills.
~The SECOND YEAR we transfer these skills to playing the piano where we learn chord notation, intervals and harmonic improvisation.
~When students graduate from LPM at the end of the THIRD YEAR, students are playing piano at level 1-2, transposing music, composing their own music, sight reading and sight singing music and are prepared to excel in further private instruction for piano, vocal, or another musical instrument.
