If you’re having a hard time thinking of the right gift for a child on your list this year, a SimplyFun game may be the perfect solution! They are high-quality, educational and fun games for all ages, skill levels and needs. My daughter’s third-grade teacher introduced me to the games and I have been very impressed. Below she gives her point-of-view as both a teacher and a mom on these great games.

“Building stronger kids and families through PLAY. This is SimplyFun’s mission statement. A little over a year ago, when I stumbled upon this company, I couldn’t get past that mission. As a teacher, that is what I aspire to do every day! I spent hours pouring over this company’s many games and picking out which ones I would like for my classroom and my home.

When I got the games in my hands, I noticed the quality difference right away. The boards are thick, the cardboard boxes are linen-lined and the pieces, whenever possible, are made of wood. I knew these games would hold up well. Even the inside of the boxes are well designed with spots to hold all the pieces. All of the games have an educational aspect interwoven in along with a ton of strategy. One of the biggest selling points to me were that the games were meant to be quick. Almost all of the games can be played in less than 30 minutes and the games designed for preschoolers take 10-15 minutes, perfect for those little attention spans.

My 3rd grade students love that these games are different. They haven’t seen them before and have never played anything like them! SimplyFun’s website has video instructions for almost every game and we use those to help us learn how to play the games. I’ve used the game Sumology to practice basic math operations and equation writing, the game Letter Slide to practice word building, and the chat ring Let’s Chat as a conversation starter. I’ve found that some students have very little experience with board games and I am glad to be able to change that. The social skills that one practices while playing a game are so important.

There are also games designed especially for kids with special needs and even games specific to autism!

Not only do I love these games for the classroom, but my family loves them at home. Our first favorite was the game Share a Berry. My then 3 year old and I played that game 12 times the night I got it. I loved that she was practicing counting, comparing, fine motor skills, and taking turns. She loved that she could beat me fair and square! Her new favorite is the game Digger’s Garden Match where she is learning counting, colors and shapes, all while having fun. I love that we connect over games at home!”
