Kids’ New Year’s Party Hat

Looking for something fun and simple to do with your kids while they are off of school this week? Try out this New Year’s Party Hat Craft! Simply print the free hat template and follow the instructions below. Do it at home or visit Hello Lemon Studio in De Pere where they will have all the supplies on-hand and do it there.
Supplies:
- Cardstock
- Tissue Paper
- Markers
- Glitter Glue
- Scissors
- Glue Stick
- Tape
- Hole Punch
- Ribbon
Step 1
Print the free hat template and cut out. Click here for template: partyhat_template
Step 2
Color in the letters. (Optional: You could also add your child’s name and/or 2016 as part of the design to decorate.)
Step 3
Roll the hat and tape at the seam.
Step 4
Cut a strip of tissue paper about 2 inches wide and long enough to fit around the bottom of the hat. Cut a second strip about 5 inches wide and long enough to fit around the top of the hat.
Step 5
Cut slits into the strip of tissue paper to create fringe.
Step 6
Apply glue to the inside bottom of the hat and attach fringe. Apply glue to the outside top of the hat and attach fringe.
Step 7
Embellish the hat with the glitter glue and let dry.
Step 8
Punch a hole on each side of the hat.
Step 9
String ribbon through each hole–long enough to tie together & fit your child’s head.
Step 10
Wear your special hat & celebrate the New Year!
