The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

I’ve got the perfect idea if you’re looking for something to do this weekend to get in the Christmas spirit and kick-off the holiday season! (And if you’re like me, your husband might be going hunting, so you may be looking for something unique to do with the kids.) I like to do something special with my girls over the weekend while he is gone. A few years ago we started the tradition of going to see the play, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Evergreen Young Actors Theatre at SNC’s Webb Theatre. Every year, the weekend before Thanksgiving they put on a play; every other year the production is “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”, and it’s back again this year!

It’s funny, because I remember watching “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” on TV when I was a kid and I really liked it. (That’s back in the old days when there were “made for TV” movies on the major network channels). When I first heard that it was a play I couldn’t resist taking the girls to see it. When I first took them to see it 3 years ago they LOVED it and now we make it a tradition to go see the Evergreen production each year when dad goes hunting. Last year it was “The Secret Garden” (which was also great), but this year my girls are very excited to see “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” again. It is a hilarious tale of a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant and they are faced with casting the Herdman kids–probably the most inventively awful kids in history! Mayhem and fun ensues when the Herdman’s collide with the Christmas story head on. It’s a fun story with a great reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is showing at Webb Theatre on St Norbert’s campus on Friday, 11/17 at 7PM, Saturday, 11/18 at 1PM & 4PM and Sunday, 11/19 at 1PM & 4PM. Tickets are $9 each. You can purchase tickets online at www.tickets.snc.edu or by calling 920-403-3950.
