Meet Heather Faulkner!
Q: What town/city do you live in?
A: Green Bay
Q: How many kids do you have?
A: Four
Q: What are their ages?
A: Isaiah (6), Hallia (4), Jeremiah (2) and Malachi (6 months)
Q: Do you work outside the home? If so, where & what do you do?
A: I am mainly at home with my kiddos which is a huge blessing, but I am also blessed to get to work with Young Life as the Mentor Coordinator linking our Young Life kids with one-on-one mentorship. And for fun, on the side, I sell Younique–because who doesn’t want awesome eyelashes?!
Q: What is your favorite at-home activity to do with your kids?
A: In the summer we love playing around outside and in the little blow-up pool. In the winter we love having tea parties (even my boys) and picnics (with play or real food) on the living room floor. We LOVE dance parties any time of year!
Q: Where is your favorite place around Green Bay to take your kids?
A: We love going to the zoo and any park. We also love to go to Sir Bounce-A-Lot during off times so it is just us and the bounce houses (I’m working on perfecting my back tuck!). I know it asked for favorite and I can’t pick one, so we also love the Children’s Museum.
Q: If you had one parenting tip to share that has worked for you/helped you, what would it be?
A: I just finished reading Love & Respect for Families and it is amazing…so much good insight, I highly recommend it. My mom has great wisdom too, she always said about me, “If I love her enough, it will all be ok” and it was, it was more than ok and I never questioned being loved by her, which is a true gift. I think I am doing the love part right (at least)…I have made it a point to hug and kiss them and snuggle them as much as I can (and make them promise they will “nuggle” me when they are 13 years old, too) so they can never say they didn’t get enough hugs! But truly I think teaching them love is huge…love for God, love for others, love for themselves. My love for them is taught in hugs, words, discipline and grace. I try to speak each of their love languages (6 year old boy is hard…ha-ha).
Q: What is your favorite thing to do for yourself when you have time?
A: I love to workout and play volleyball. This never happens anymore, but I love spending time with my closest girls (without our kiddos) and finishing our conversations (unlike when we are at playdates with kids)! I also really, really love being a Young Life leader and hanging out with teenagers!
Q: Are you a night owl or an early bird (despite what you have to be as a mom)?
A: Super night owl.
Q: Share a funny quote from one of your kids.
A: I got a call from school saying my kiddo wasn’t feeling good. When I got to the school I saw he was in his extra clothes. I asked him what was up and he responded, “I threw up in my underwear!” It took everything for me to not burst out laughing that he just referred to diarrhea that way!
Thanks for sharing with us, Heather. Check back next week to meet another area mom!
(P.S. Let’s go mommy is in need of more submissions from moms or dads, so please contact me if you are interested and willing to be featured at lindy@letsgomommy.com. It’s super easy!)
