Monday Morning Moms in Green Bay

Meet Julie Siewert!

Q: What town/city do you live in?

A: Freedom, halfway between Green Bay and Appleton. My family has the best of both worlds here. We get to choose between Appleton and Green Bay activities for fun!

Q: How many kids do you have?
A: Two kids and a dog.

Q: What are their ages?
A: Jake is 5 (in kindergarten now!) and Josie is 18 months. Their birthdays are 1 day apart. 🙂

Q: Do you work outside the home? If so, where & what do you do?
A: In addition to keeping two kids alive all day long, I am the Mom Owner of Diaper Dabbler. I sell variety packages of diaper samples online and at local expos. So my office (and my whole life, it seems) is overrun with diapers! Beyond that, I also deliver newspapers before the sun comes up.

Q: What is your favorite at-home activity to do with your kids?
A: Baking! Both my kids love to cook and create in the kitchen.

Q: Where is your favorite place around Green Bay to take your kids?
A: We have a soft spot for the Wildlife Sanctuary. Growing up, that was a special place to visit with my mom and Grandpa, and I love sharing it with my kids. They love feeding the ducks and geese, running along the paths and playing on the playground equipment. We often bring my mom along with us for a fun family day.

Q: If you had one parenting tip to share that has worked for you/helped you, what would it be?
A: I remind myself constantly that “this too shall pass”. It has kept me sane through so many of the challenges of raising little people. Being present and living in the present is the very best that I can give my kids. We face life and challenges together as a team, and that has helped through some behavioral “struggles”.

Q: What do you like to do when you have time for yourself?
A: I enjoy crafting and creating things. I miss having whole afternoons to curl up with a book and a mug of hot chocolate.

Q: Are you a night owl or an early bird (despite what you have to be as a mom)?
A: I always used to be a night owl. I don’t remember the last time I was able to wake up in the morning before the sun rose, so I guess I’m now a morning person.

Q: What is your “story” that you would like to share with others to motivate, encourage or inspire them?
A: It’s amazing to me how doing a nice thing can come back to benefit you in so many ways you never even realized! Five years ago, my cousin started a little online business. I was a stay-at-home mom to a baby and had some extra time on my hands. I offered (for free) to help her with her online marketing for this small business, learning the ropes along the way. Fast-forward to now…I own the business and it blesses me and my family in so many ways. Offering up my time and talents to a friend has come back to me ten-fold! Always be kind and do the right thing. A good life lesson for kids and adults!

Thanks for sharing with us, Julie! Please check back next week to meet another area mom.

(P.S. Let’s go mommy is always in need of more submissions from moms or dads, so please contact me if you are interested and willing to be featured at lindy@letsgomommy.com. It’s super easy!)
