October Events in Green Bay Area 2016

Here is the 2016 list of all the special, October “Fall/Halloween” family events in the Green Bay Area in one place just for you! All of these events can be found on the let’s go mommy website on the dates that they occur, so this is just a quick snapshot of all the special events in October so you can plan your month accordingly and you don’t miss anything! (This is a comprehensive list at the time of publication, but more events may arise throughout the month, so continue checking the let’s go mommy website for listings.)

October 3rd

*TOY STORY OF TERROR MOVIE NIGHT @ Weyers Hilliard Library: 6PM-7PM; FREE
Watch Toy Story of Terror and then make Halloween crafts. Movie is rated G and is 22 min.

October 7th

October 8th

*PUMPKIN BLOWOUT @ all Festival Foods locations (all pumpkins one price, any size): 8AM-5PM (kids’ activities 9-3); FREE + cost of pumpkins, etc.

*THE GREAT PUMPKIN TRAIN @ The National Railroad Museum: 9AM-5:30PM; $12 per person, 2 & under FREE
Event includes train ride to pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin (free w/ admission), kids’ activities and museum admission. Train runs every 45 minutes.

*FAMILY COMIC-CON @ Central Library: 10AM-4PM; FREE
The First-Ever Library Comic Con!! This family-friendly event is for all ages. Dress as your favorite superhero or movie character or just hang out with fellow fans of Doctor Who, Star Trek or Settlers of Catan. Enter a cosplay contest, participate in new and favorite games, shop and meet the creators at our Artist Alley and much more! Featured speaker: Alex Bledsoe, author of many books including “Tales of Tufa”.

*SATURDAY MORNING STORYTIME with Elsa and Anna @ Fraluz Frozen Treats (1031 Main St, De Pere): 10:30AM-11AM; $5 per child cash only

*ASTRONOMY NIGHT @ Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary: 7PM-9PM; FREE
Enjoy a free night of star gazing with the Neville Astronomy Club at the Wildlife Sanctuary. Telescopes and volunteers will be set up on Resch Falls and available to help.

October 9th

October 12th

*HAPPY JOE’S PUMPKIN CARVING EVENT @ The NEW Zoo (4378 Reforestation Rd in Pines Shelter, Suamico): 4PM-8PM; FREE–bring your own pumpkin and carving tools
Bring your own pumpkins and pumpkin carving tools and prepare to create a masterpiece! Event will take place at the Pines Shelter off the north end of the NEW Zoo’s main parking lot. Happy Joe’s will provide FREE pizza and the zoo will provide soda to all participants. All pumpkins decorated during the event will be used to decorate the zoo for the Zoo Boo! October 14th

*ZOO BOO @ the NEW Zoo: 3PM-8PM; $10 per person at gate, kids 1 & under FREE
Kids 12 & under can trick-or-treat. Wear costumes and bring treat bags! Zoo will be filled with festive Halloween decorations, 2 giant inflatables, a maze, live swamp monsters and a haunted horse-drawn wagon ride through the “Freaky Forest” on select dates.

*HAUNTED HAPPENINGS @ Central Library: 6PM-8PM; FREE
It’s an After-Hours Party! The doors will open at 5:45PM for family-friendly fun for kids, followed by gruesome paranormal stuff at 7PM for teens and adults. Younger kids can enjoy the suspense and humor of not-too-scary storytelling and then create a “Franken-Toy” with parts of toys and other objects in Proto’s makerspace workshop. Ages 12-18 can team up to take on the challenge of our Escape Room. Teens and adults can check out horror games, “show and tell” booth and attend the 7PM “Visiting the Beyond” presentation on some of our country’s most haunted locations by paranormal explorer Curt Strutz.

October 15th

*MALL-O-WEEN @ Bay Park Square Mall: 10AM-1PM; FREE
Bay Park Mall invites families to bring their little ones in their favorite costumes for this fun & spooky event! Retailers will have activities happening inside or outside their stores such as coloring, story time, food specials and more! There will be a free, digital photo booth where you can use fun props and send photos right to your phone. Mischief & Magic Entertainment will be here with balloons, face paint and magic tricks!

Join our Halloween festivities as the Witches and Wizards take over the park! Participate in enchanting games and activities to test your magic skills, fill your cauldrons with candy as you trick-or-treat throughout the park and partake in refreshing potions from our concessions stand. Roast marshmallows over the fire with your handy wand.

October 16th

October 17th

*ALLOUEZ VILLAGE BAND CONCERT @ the Meyer Theatre: 7PM; FREE
Doors open at 6, concert begin at 7. Fall theme is: “Generations of Mystics – Otherworldly Thrillers”

*HARVEST FEST @ Weyers-Hilliard Library: 5:30PM-6:30PM; FREE
Celebrate harvest with pumpkin crafts, activities and games. Plus, join us as participants or judges for our soup cook-off.

October 18th

*PJ STORYTIME: NOT-SO-SCARY MONSTERS @ Ashwaubenon Library: 6:30-7PM; FREE
Don’t let these monsters scare you…say “Go Away!” at this fun storytime.

October 21st

This event features the Museum’s remarkable “Ice Age Imperials” exhibit and its interactive displays, including photo opps with scenes of giant mammals! Activities include: (12-12:45 & 2-2:45) Professor Gizmo’s Amazing Science Show–Witness the science magic of dry ice and more. (11-3) Hands-on Artifacts Station, Cave Painting, Seek & Find scavenger hunt, Glacial Goo science, snowflake crafts, Back to the Ice Age storytime and more! (Use your summer reading pass to get in FREE!)

*HALLOWEEN EVENT @ Wildlife Sanctuary: 6PM-9PM; $2.50/child, $3.75/adult
This is a fun family event! Kids can come in costume. Event includes group pumpkin-lit walk through a darkened Nature Center where you will encounter various animals portrayed by area youth; actors will educate you about themselves and their wild ways in a fun and light-hearted way. Tours are at 6:00, 6:20, 6:40, 7:00, 7:20, 7:40, 8:00 & 8:20.  Must call to reserve a time slot: 920-391-3671.

*YMCA HALLOWEEN @ Broadview: 3PM-5PM; FREE
Bring the whole family to the Y to explore spooky hallways, play scary games, swim in the pool and more! Best for ages 10 & under. Carnival games, prizes, bounce houses, spooky science room, art & craft project, photo prop stops, scavenger hunt, face painting, GaGa, preschool play equipment, snacks and refreshments.

*YMCA HALLOWEEN @ West Side: 6PM-8PM; FREE

*ONCE UPON A HALLOWEEN @ Green Bay Children’s Museum: 5PM-8PM; $5 per person (tickets MUST be purchased in advance)
Join The Children’s Museum of Green Bay For their 5th Annual Family Costume Party! This spook-tacular event has plenty to offer the whole family including a special storytime with “Stella” the live Fruit Bat, Witchy Workshops, Costume prizes, food available for purchase and more! Families are encouraged to dress up in their best family-friendly costumes!

October 28th

*DOUBLE FEATURE FRIDAY @ Southwest Library: 10:15AM; FREE
Stop in for 2 fun fall movies: “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and “Goosebumps” (PG, 1 hr 43 min). Free Popcorn.

*SWEET STREET @ Shopko Hall: 11AM-8PM; $6 per person
Enjoy safe and controlled trick-or-treating and activities for children. Kids under 2 are free but do not receive candy unless a ticket is purchased. 150,000 pieces of peanut-free candy handed out! Live music and dance performances, Zombie survival zone, young scientists corner, petting zoo, inflatable games, football toss & box maze.

*FLICK ‘N FLOAT MOVIE NIGHT @ Kroc Center: 6:30PM-8:30PM; Members FREE, Adults $5, Kids $3, Under 3 FREE
Come splash into a fun-filled “Under The Sea” Movie Series at the Kroc Aquatics Center! We’ll turn down the lights and fire up the big screen to watch a great family movie, “Finding Nemo”, while you float, swim or play in the pool!

  1. Do you know for Zoo Boo if there’s a better time to go to avoid that huge lines and having to park far?

  2. The NEW Zoo tells me that Fridays from 3-5 are the slowest times. Other than that they can’t really predict. Hope this helps.

  3. We went to the Zoo boo 10/15 a lot of people were there right at 3 and parking was fairly close . I’d say about 5/6 pm it wasn’t so busy but a long line for the haunted hay ride .
