Q: What town/city do you live in?
A: Green Bay
Q: How many kids do you have?
A: One daughter
Q: What are their ages?
A: 9–she’d say 9-1/2 of course!
Q: Do you work outside the home? If so, where/what do you do?
A: Cleaning homes. Most often for busy families with 2 working parents. It is a gift to be able to give peace of mind that comes with a clean house to a busy family! (Sorry, right now I’m not taking on anymore clients :/)
Q: What is your favorite at-home activity to do with your kids?
A: Gonna be real here & say media, especially in winter. We watch a lot of it, very much more than the recommended amount. We’re homebodies & it makes us happy for the most part. My heart is joyful when my husband & daughter are watching C.H.I.P.S., the old Batman series or are playing on the Xbox laughing. We do occasionally bake or cook with our daughter (1-on-1). And our go-to indoor games are Uno, Sorry and now Cribbage. In warmer weather we do turn off the devices a *bit* more, and you can find us on our patio while our daughter plays on the swing set soaking up the sun or playing Frisbee with her.
Q: Where is your favorite place around Green Bay to take your kids?
A: Bay Beach by far, for me at least; the hubby gets motion sick :-(. Our daughter loves the Zippin’ Pippin’ & we’ve been known to ride 5 times in a row!
Q: If you had one parenting tip to share with others that has worked for you/helped you, what would it be?
A: First, ALWAYS admit when you are wrong or acted in anger & ask for forgiveness. As a parent, we will always screw up, but a sincere apology & contrite heart goes miles & miles with our kids AND our spouses.
Second, letting your kid know that most things they feel & experience are normal. But coaching them to not allow their feelings/emotions to dictate their behavior–truth should dictate it.
Q: What is your favorite hobby when you have time for yourself?
A: I am certainly a “Jane of all trades, mistress of none”! I like to read most of all probably: history (reading through the Time/Life series done on WWII right now) and historical fiction among others. Jane Austen most definitely. But I dabble in crafting home décor (thank you, Pintrest), knitting, crocheting and a smattering of sewing.
Q: Are you a night owl or an early bird (despite what you have to be as a mom)?
A: Night owl, but I try to get up early to read my Bible & pray before my daughter gets up.
Q: What is something not many people know about you?
A: I’m a New Whovian. Those who also are will understand.
Share a funny quote from one of your kids.
This was said by my daughter 2 years ago in a bedtime prayer: “…and God, I want you to know I love you more than ANYTHING! But my second favorite thing is candy. Amen.”
Thanks for sharing with us, Andrea! Check back next week to meet another area mom![/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
