Meet Betsy Hornseth!
Q: What town/city do you live in?
A: De Pere
Q: How many kids do you have?
A: Four. Three boys and a baby girl.
Q: What are their ages?
A: 10, 7, 4 & 1
Q: Do you work outside the home? If so, where & what do you do?
A: I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for 2 years now. Before that I was in sales.
Q: What is your favorite at-home activity to do with your kids?
A: This is a hard one because my kids’ ages are all over the place, so there are things that I like to do with each of them or with groups of them, but it’s hard for me to think of ONE activity that we can all do together. I guess hide-and-seek!? It’s often unintentional hide-and-seek because there are so many of them, I’m usually unable to locate at least one!
Q: Where is your favorite place around Green Bay to take your kids?
A: Again, due to the varying ages, this one is tricky. However, we really enjoy going swimming. We like the Y during the winter and any of the city pools during the summer.
Q: If you had one parenting tip to share that has worked for you/helped you, what would it be?
A: My tip comes from the many parenting and personal challenges throughout the years. We have very little control over life. We can control our reactions, and that’s about it. So I try to pick my battles, don’t sweat the small stuff, appreciate today, enjoy the ride and SMILE!
Q: What is your favorite thing to do for yourself when you have time?
A: Filling out questionnaires…does that count? I’m sort of hobby-less, but I look forward to discovering new hobbies when I’m not so busy with the kids. If I have to declare a hobby, I’d say attempting to participate in aerobic or yoga classes.
Q: Are you a night owl or an early bird (despite what you have to be as a mom)?
A: I’m a night owl by nature, but I’ve never needed a ton of sleep. I like to burn the candle at both ends as much as possible!
Q: What is something not many people know about you?
A: My husband and I are in the top percentile of height in the world for couples! I’m 6’4″ and he’s 6’8″. So we are giant and our kids are giant. We’d literally be the worst thieves in the world. We’re kind of…uhhh…noticeable.
Q: What is your most embarassing moment?
A: My life is a series of embarrassing events. The other day I dressed my four year-old for opposite day. Except it wasn’t until the next day. #serialskimmer #detailsdetails
Q: Share a funny quote from one of your kids:
A: There are SO many! Anytime my one year-old does something naughty my four year-old says in an exasperated voice, “See? This is why we should’ve gotten a dog!!!”
Thanks for sharing with us, Betsy. Check back next week to meet another area mom!
