October Family-Friendly Events in the Green Bay Area: 2018

Here is the 2018 list of all the special, October “Fall/Halloween” family-friendly events & library storytimes in the Green Bay Area in one place just for you! All of these events can be found on the let’s go mommy website on the dates that they occur, so this is just a quick snapshot of all the special events in October so you can plan your month accordingly and not miss out on anything! (This is a comprehensive list at the time of publication, but more events may arise throughout the month, so continue checking the let’s go mommy website calendar for all up-to-date listings.) October 4th

*OWL STORYTIME @ Central Library: 9:30AM; FREE
For ages 2-3. Whoooo wants to learn about owls? Owls, owls, everywhere! Got messy hair? We don’t care! Stay in your PJ’s and have some fun learning about owls through stories, songs and a craft! 

October 6th

*PUMPKIN BLOWOUT @ all Festival Foods locations (all pumpkins one price, any size): 8AM-5PM (kids’ activities 9-3); FREE + cost of pumpkins, etc.

*PACKERS SPOOKTACULAR @ Lambeau Field Atrium: 9AM-3PM; FREE
Enjoy interactive entertainment including music, juggling performances and balloon animals plus face-painting, fall-themed games and put their artistic skills to work at Halloween-themed craft stations.

*KIDS CRAFT NIGHT: IT’S PUMPKIN TIME @ East Library: 6PM; FREE
Celebrate fall at this seasonal storytime all about pumpkins! After stories and songs together, each child will decorate their very own mini pumpkin/gourd to take home! Adult supervision required. 

October 10th

*HAPPY JOE’S PUMPKIN CARVING EVENT @ The NEW Zoo (4378 Reforestation Rd in Pines Shelter, Suamico): 4PM-8PM; FREE–BYO pumpkin and carving tools
Bring your own pumpkins and pumpkin carving tools and prepare to create a masterpiece! Event will take place at the Pines Shelter off the north end of the NEW Zoo’s main parking lot. Happy Joe’s will provide FREE pizza and the zoo will provide soda to all participants. All pumpkins decorated during the event will be used to decorate the zoo for the Zoo Boo! *PICNIC AND PLAY: PUMPKIN FUN @ Kress Library: 10:15AM-11:15AM; FREE
Learn all about this fall favorite through hands on activities and create a craft to take home. Bring a snack and blanket and we’ll enjoy an indoor picnic.

October 11th

*CIRQUE DU SOLEIL CRYSTAL @ Resch Center: 7:30PM; $39-$48 per person
Watch as world-class ice skaters and acrobats take their new frozen playground by storm with speed and fluidity as they challenge the laws of gravity with daring acrobatics! 

October 12th

*ZOO BOO @ the NEW Zoo: 3PM-8PM; $12 per person at gate, kids under 2 FREE
Kids 16 & under can trick-or-treat. Wear costumes and bring treat bags! Zoo will be filled with festive Halloween decorations, 2 giant inflatables, a maze, live swamp monsters and a haunted horse-drawn wagon ride through the “Freaky Forest”.

*BOO BEACH @ Bay Beach Amusement Park: 5PM-8PM; ride tickets 10 cents each
Join us for a family-friendly Halloween themed weekend with rides, throwback pricing and special treats! Kids in costumes will receive a free treat all weekend long.

*MAKE-A-MONSTER @ Southwest Library: 2-4PM; FREE
Learn to make and sew your own monster. We will design our monsters then turn them into simple stuffed animal. Must have taken sewing 101 or have previous sewing knowledge. Available for ages 6-18. Children ages 6-10 must attend with an adult. Space is limited; call 920-492-491 to register. 

October 13th

*THE GREAT PUMPKIN TRAIN @ The National Railroad Museum: 9AM-5PM; $13 per person & under 2 FREE
Event includes train ride to pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin (free w/ admission), kids’ activities and museum admission. Train runs every 45 minutes.

*FALL FEST ON BROADWAY @ Broadway District: 11AM-3PM; FREE
Enjoy a day of family-friendly fall activities in the Broadway District including trick-or-treating, music, pumpkin painting, games and more!

*ZOO BOO @ the NEW Zoo: 3PM-8PM; $12 per person at gate, kids under 2 FREE
Kids 12 & under can trick-or-treat. Wear costumes and bring treat bags! Zoo will be filled with festive Halloween decorations, 2 giant inflatables, a maze, live swamp monsters and a haunted horse-drawn wagon ride through the “Freaky Forest”.

Enjoy a free family party before the showing of Goosebumps 2 (movie admission optional and sold separately). Activities will include cotton ball ghost crafts, tissue paper candy corn, coloring and activity sheets, prize giveaways, delicious free snacks and more!

Enjoy puppet shows performed with the help of a friendly visiting scarecrow. Then vote on parts we should use to create a scarecrow for the library garden, create a related craft and stay to harvest any remaining produce in the Cellcom Children’s Edible Garden!

October 19th

*HALLOWEEN CANDLELIGHT CAVE TOURS @ Ledge View Nature Center: 5:30-8:30PM; $6 ages 5-17, $8 ages 18+
Enjoy a family-oriented cave tour. It’s a candlelit descent into the cool darkness of the caves where you may find unusual personalities with unusual tales to tell. Educational, not scary. Tours leave every half hour. First come, first serve. No strollers or pets. For ages 5 & up.

*IT’S A MONSTER MASH PLAYDATE @ East Library: 2:30PM; FREE
Get in the Halloween spirit with this special monster-themed playdate. Enjoy stories and songs about not-so-scary monsters and stay to make your own little monster craft to take home.

October 20th

Join us for a Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale Halloween Event! Meet Cinderella, Rumpelstiltskin, Puss in Boots, Snow White and many more! Visitors can trick-or-treat in a family-friendly environment and visit each area of the park to hear stories from the Brothers Grimm, play games and get candy! Wear costumes!

*HALLOWEEN EVENT @ Wildlife Sanctuary: 6PM-9PM; $2.50/child, $3.75/adult
This is a fun family event! Kids can come in costume. Event includes group pumpkin-lit walk through a darkened Nature Center where you will encounter various animals portrayed by area youth; actors will educate you about themselves and their wild ways in a fun and light-hearted way. Tours are at 6:00, 6:20, 6:40, 7:00, 7:20, 7:40, 8:00 & 8:20.  Must call to reserve a time slot: 920-391-3671.

*YMCA HALLOWEEN @ Broadview: 3PM-5PM; FREE
Bring the whole family to the Y for Halloween fun & a costume. Carnival games, prizes, bounce houses, snacks, refreshments and more. Open to the public.

*YMCA HALLOWEEN @ Downtown: 5PM-8PM; FREE
Bring the whole family to the Y for Halloween fun & our annual costume giveaway! Carnival games, prizes, bounce houses, snacks, refreshments and more. Kids must be accompanied by an adult to receive a free costume–while supplies last. Open to the public.

Gather round the giant 70-inch screen to watch this slightly scary family TV movie.

October 26th

*TRUNK OR TREAT @ Howe Community Resource Center: 4-6PM; FREE
Come in costume & trunk or treat with cars decorated in different themes! Candy & other small prizes will be available at each car. Help us decide which car has the best theme & learn about different community organizations along the way.

Enjoy safe and controlled trick-or-treating and activities for children in a weather-proof environment. Kids under 2 are free but do not receive candy unless a ticket is purchased. Thousands of pieces of peanut-free candy handed out! Lots of live entertainment & fun!

*BROWN COUNTY 200th BIRTHDAY PARTY @ Neville Public Museum: 9AM-5PM; $7 each (adults 16+), $3 each (kids 6-15), 5 & under FREE
Celebrate Brown County’s 200th Birthday at the Neville with family-friendly activities, food trucks and a fireworks display at dusk!

October 27th

*DOWNTOWN DEPERE TRICK OR TREAT EVENT @ Downtown DePere & Community Center: 11AM-2PM; FREE
Nearly 50 businesses will be open to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. Also, stop by the DePere Community Center lower level for games and treats and a showing of a Halloween movie every half hour starting at 11.

*HARRY POTTER & THE DEATHLY HALLOWS (PART 2) @ Green Bay East Cinema: 10AM; $5 per person

*YMCA HALLOWEEN @ West Side: 5PM-8PM; FREE
Bring the whole family to the Y for Halloween fun. Carnival games, prizes, bounce houses, snacks, refreshments and more. Open to the public.

*SHOPKO SWEET STREET @ Shopko Hall: 8:30AM-4PM; $6 per person
Enjoy safe and controlled trick-or-treating and activities for children in a weather-proof environment. Kids under 2 are free but do not receive candy unless a ticket is purchased. Come in costume & join us for safe and fun trunk or treating with cars decorated in different themes! All are welcome and also invited to stay and attend worship at 5PM after the event.

Celebrate the evening before Halloween with our storytime spooktacular! Wear your costumes and decorate a pumpkin to gear up for the big night.

*NOT SO SPOOKY HALLOWEEN STORYTIME @ East Library: 10:30AM; FREE
Join us for a storytime of Halloween fun! Feel free to wear your costume if you would like.

Laugh along with stories about spells gone wrong in this storytime that’s more silly than spooky. Stay and make a Halloween-themed craft. Feel free to wear your costume if you would like.
