Green Bay Sail & Paddle

Have you heard about Green Bay Sail & Paddle? If you’re like me, you’ve been seeing their signs around town and wondering what they were all about. I had a chance to find out more about them at Kid’s Day. I was very impressed with what I learned and am excited to share the info with let’s go mommy readers!

Green Bay Sail & Paddle is a nonprofit organization with a goal of sharing the thrill of sailing with everyone in our community on our beautiful Bay! They are creating opportunities for all area youth and families, regardless of means, to safely enjoy sail and paddle sports on the waters of the bay.

They offer a variety of classes and each class is led by a US Sailing Level 1 certified lead instructor assisted by a water safety specialist. All instructors and assistants are also certified in first aid, CPR/AED and boating safety. Classes are hands-on and are for ages 8+ to adults & seniors with special programs for the physically or cognitively challenged.

They also typically offer some FREE sailing classes for kids and families each summer (which they did earlier this year), so watch for those next summer if you are interested & get signed up early to guarantee a spot.

Some of the classes offered that are still coming up this summer are:
-Paddle Boarding Yoga ($30 per session) on 8/4 3:30-5PM OR 5:30-7PM for youth & adult: 8/4
-Intro to Sailboat Racing ($135 per session) 5-8PM for youth & adult: 8/8, 9 & 10
-Intro to Sailing Custom Group (call for group pricing) 1-4PM: 8/8 & 8/10
-Basic Sailing Part 1 ($135 per 3-hour session) 1-4PM for youth ages 8+: 8/15,16 & 17
-Intro to Sailing Couples Night ($80 per couple) 5:30-8:30PM: 8/15
-Intro to Sailing ($30) 5-8PM for youth & adult: 8/17
-Intro to Sailing for Family ($100 per family of 4) 5-8PM: 8/17

Classes are held on the beach located within Green Bay’s South Marina on Bay Beach Road, west of the amusement park. Introductory classes are held within a protected lagoon; higher level classes venture a bit farther out into the bay.

Green Bay Paddle & Sail is at the west end of Bay Beach Rd, past the Zippin Pippin. To find South Bay, take HWY I-43 to exit #187 (Webster Ave), go north to Irwin St. and take a left on Irwin, which then turns into Bay Beach Rd. They are the last entrance on the right. Look for the South Bay Marina sign. When you enter the marina follow the signs that say Green Bay Sail & Paddle.

  1. My 8 year old daughter did sailing 1 last month and started sailing 2 tonight. It is amazing to watch my baby girl sailing off into the bay, face turned to the spray and arms wide open like she’s Moana đŸ™‚ and the volunteers are incredibly patient and supportive and constantly keeping an eye out. Best money I spent all summer. Plus relaxing on their little beach, I can almost pretend I am in Key West. Haha
